With Valentine’s Day rapidly approaching, on February 14th,
many are wondering what to do for that special someone. Yes, most women
love chocolates, flowers, and jewelry, but what if you want your gift
to stand out? Well, then consider one of these more unique ideas for how
to spend V-Day with your sweetie:
1. Dine in with a meal that takes just a little time to plan.
It can be as easy to prepare as boiling spaghetti noodles and serving a
salad, but the creative touches that you add will make it a day she
won’t soon forget. Think candles, soft music, roses as decorations, and
your undivided attention for the evening. You can’t go wrong when you
put time and effort like this into a romantic evening–just make sure you
also wash all the dishes when you’re through!
2. Clear off all the things on her “honey-do list” that have been piling up. Make
those repairs, clean out the garage, paint, landscape, and do whatever
else she’s been asking you to do. To receive full credit for your
efforts, you may even want to give a Valentine’s Day themed list that
you cross off after everything on it has been completed as a gift. She
will be pleased to see that you remembered what she wanted you to work
on and if you think proactively, you may not see another list for quite a
while!
3. Take her for a couple’s massage. Who doesn’t like
a massage? Men have been giving gift certificates for massage to their
valentines for quite some time. The difference with this gift is that
you schedule the massage as a couple’s massage that occurs on or around
Valentine’s Day. Doing so will allow the two of you to experience the
sensual, relaxing feeling of a massage together. Then, who knows where
your night might lead? You can even play this idea up by blindfolding
your honey for the trip to the massage parlor and keeping everything
hush-hush until the special night.
4. Do something for her that she would not do for herself. Who
knows your sweetheart better than you? Well, use that knowledge to help
you score extra points this Valentine’s Day by buying her something
she’s been admiring, like that new Coach bag that she just cannot bring
herself to spend $300 on. Or do something for her that she’s wanted to
do but hasn’t had time for, like painting a room on the down low, having
her car detailed, or sneaking a cleaning service into the house while
she’s at work to get everything spotless. With special gifts like these,
she will feel like you know her–her likes and dislikes, her wants and
needs.
5. Plan a romantic get-away. It does not have to be
far away, expensive or extravagant. Even a one-night stay at a hotel or
bed and breakfast several towns over can be a really romantic way to
show her how much she means to you. You might score extra points for
obtaining a room with a hot tub and bringing some strawberries,
chocolate, and champagne! Since Valentine’s Day falls midweek this year,
this can even be arranged to occur after Valentine’s Day, when the
location for your trip might have less traffic. Just make sure she knows
you did not forget about V-Day, or the days leading up to your trip
might just be less than enjoyable!
6. If you are going to give a more traditional gift, like jewelry, do it with extra flair. Plan
a romantic treasure hunt to find your gift with hints that relate to
your relationship and past history. For example, “Look where we first
met,” or “Check in the place that rhymes with the first word of our
favorite song.” Don’t make the hints too difficult, and ensure that each
one reminds her of the wonderful times you’ve spent together. And
remember that the process is supposed to be fun, so if she struggles,
give her a hand. There’s nothing worse than allowing a woman to search
aimlessly for too long for something when you know right where it is!
7. Build new memories together by planning something that the two of you have never done before.
Eat at that new place you’ve been meaning to try, take a hot balloon
ride, or go horseback riding. The ideas are only limited by your
imagination!
8. If you are really creative, write, draw or paint something that will memorialize your love for her. This
could be a poem, a story that tells how you met, or a piece of artwork
that captures the many facets of your love for her. She will likely
never have gotten anything like it before!
9. If your lady is a philanthropist, do or give something that will honor her giving nature. For
example, buy or make valentines to be distributed to those in the most
need–people staying in shelters or patients in care homes. Or, donate
money or items to her favorite charity or cause in her name. She’ll see
that you really get what she thinks is important. If possible,
commemorate the gift in some way, like with a photograph, video or
certificate.
10. Spend the whole day showing her how much you care. Buy
a dozen small, inexpensive things and hide/give them to her throughout
the day. You can leave them on her pillow, in a dresser, pack them in
her lunch, hang them from the rear view mirror in her car, or have them
smuggled into her place of business. Then, call and text her throughout
the day to ensure that she finds each and every one of your tokens of
appreciation. Plan to end the evening with a bang, by giving a larger
gift or planning a special evening to top of your day-long celebration
of your love. For a new twist on an old favorite you can even give a
small gift each day on the eleven days prior to Valentine’s Day and then
plan an extra special evening on V-Day to model the 12 Days of
Christmas
